HEAD POPPER'S
What’s Poppin’ Kettle Korn began in 2004 when Jim Rennison, a soon-to-retire correctional officer in upstate New York, set out to find a new adventure for his next chapter. Inspired by his cousin’s success selling kettle corn in Rhode Island, Jim saw the perfect opportunity to bring that same joy to the Catskills — and with the support of his wife, Melissa, turned a simple idea into a family tradition.
From the very first pop, Melissa has been by Jim’s side — managing events, refining recipes, and helping grow What’s Poppin’ into a local staple known for its quality and heart. Their children, Shane, Britt, and Jay, all grew up surrounded by the sound and smell of fresh-popped corn, learning the ropes and carrying their parents’ vision forward.
Today, What’s Poppin’ Kettle Korn stands as a true family business built on hard work, laughter, and a shared love for creating something honest and delicious. The Rennisons take pride in crafting kettle corn that brings people together across the Catskills — and yes, they still eat it too!
